The Governors of St Paul’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a faith-filled, compassionate and ambitious leader to serve as our next Deputy Headteacher.

This is a pivotal role in the life of our joyful and thriving school community, working in close partnership with the Headteacher to ensure that every child is known, loved and supported to flourish. We are looking for someone who feels called to Catholic education and is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.

About the role

The Deputy Headteacher will play a central role in shaping the pastoral life of the school and ensuring that the most vulnerable pupils and families receive the very best support.

Key areas of leadership may include:

  • safeguarding (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
  • pastoral care and behaviour
  • attendance
  • disadvantaged pupils

The role includes a part-time teaching commitment, enabling the successful candidate to remain rooted in classroom practice while growing into whole-school leadership. Areas of responsibility could be altered for the right candidate

A role for an aspiring Deputy Headteacher

This post is ideally suited to a current assistant headteacher, phase leader or experienced middle leader who is ready for their first deputy headship. You do not need to be a serving Deputy Headteacher.

About you

You will be someone who:

  • is a practising Catholic with a deep commitment to the mission of the Church
  • is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all pupils
  • has successfully led an area of school improvement (for example a phase, subject, pastoral or inclusion area)
  • is passionate about ensuring that every child – particularly the most vulnerable – flourishes
  • builds strong, life-giving relationships with pupils, families and staff
  • is reflective, resilient and eager to grow as a leader
  • leads with integrity, warmth and compassion
